Masterpieces

In this phase Luis concentrates on the carving. All the expertise of joinery, the delicacy of marquetry, the mastery of different grains, enable him to extract from a block the hidden shapes which are waiting to be born again into life. This is the moment in which the artist is master of his technique and experiments, soberly yet ornately, using to full advantage his control of the elements.

For Luis it is not enough to honour the masters from whom he learned his trade over the course of forty five years; Luis also innovates and applies technique to handling new materials such as African buffalo and mammoth horn, and different types of wood brought from all the corners of the world.
